Disappointed!

Despite me doing loads (or what I consider to be loads) of exercise on Monday, I am disappointed with myself today. On a Tuesday I don't get time to do anything so Tuesday is a rest day and Wednesday I go to the gym then go to work. This morning however, my alarm didn't go off quite as early as I wanted it to and I ended up in a rush at the gym. Considering I didn't do any exercise on Tuesday I wanted today to be a really intense calorie burning work out but I disappointed myself!

I have free training at my gym rather than a set programme because I can never remember the technical names for the different machines, but I might start doing my training programme. I was olnly in the gym an hour but quite a few of the machines were out of order so this slowed me down too!
To make matters worse, I wasn't able to 'check out' of the gym and see how many calories I did manage to burn! I think that I have had an off day today because having to go to work messes up my meals too!
I havnt consumed too many calories today, but I dont feel like ive eaten the right things!

Tomorrow I am going to have a really good session in the gym and then go for a swim in the morning and I may even go out for a run on the evening, depending on the weather and how much ive eaten for tea.
I have downloaded a new track from another running blog that lasts 15 minutes and it supposed to motivate you in your work out! I'm going to try it out tomorrow and see if I can stay on most of the cardio machines for 15 minutes or longer. I am going with a friend who is new to the gym and is very motivated. Hopefully some company in the gym will push me to stay and workout for longer, and also to try out some new machines.
I am really determined to really push myself tomorrow, I don't feel like ive lost any weight this week, losing weight isnt really my ultimate goal, feeling better is, but I think for my body shape to change I will need to lose half a stone and I would like to lose a stone!

My motivation is definitely up for tomorrow, I think today may have knocked me down slightly! I will keep you posted tomorrow on how it goes. And if that track is any good ill link it to youu! Hope everyone is motivated todayy! Nightt!

Swim & Gym

Well today has involved a lot of exercise! I'm usually at uni all day today so I just go for a quick gym session on the night and a tried Zumba one Monday! I really enjoyed Zumba but at £4 I didn't feel like i'd have a proper, full on work out, it was more like a bit of fun! I really would recommend it for a change of workout!
Today I have been to the gym for an hour and a half and then went for a swim. I usually go swimming in a 25m pool but this one was alot longer, maybe 33m and it was very busy so I found it harder than usual!

I used a different gym than usual too as my membership covers 3 local gyms, the machines were the same as my other gym but the layout was different and it wasn't air conditioned so it was alot warmer in there too! I really enjoyed working out at a different gym for a change of scenery and a change of faces but I was very happy to jump in the cool pool!

Today the healthy eating has gone ok, not great but ok. I want to do my best to eat healthily but I am going to watch my calories and try not restrict myself from something as I know this will make it harder for me a week down the line and I will give in! Today I really wanted a tasty desert after my dinner and made the mistake of going to asda, I ended up with Tiramisu, luckily it was an individual one and was 297 calories.

I am going to do "hidden" exercise such as walking to places where I would usually drive, I suppose every little bit of exercise counts! Today I walked to the post office and back, this is 0.5 miles away so in total it was 1 mile and because I had fresh air and different views I didnt feel like I'd done any exercise! Unfortunately I didn't do much running today but it is always nice to have a change of exercise so you don't get bored. I may go for a run tomorrow if not it will have to wait until Wednesday!

Too much time..

Ok, so its Saturday and I'm putting off uni work so I had quite alot of time on my hands this afternoon so second blog of the day!
Yesterday I decided to buy a skipping rope for a quick, high cardio, fun workout at home and let me tell you it is quick because after about a minute I was ready to pass out! I read on the internet that the aim is to skip for 30 minutes none stop!! I think I can last about 30 seconds before I start thinking "how much longer?!?"
I don't really have any room in the house to do it so first I did it outside on the decking area but because the neighbours were sitting out in the garden I felt that it was a little too noisy so I went into the garage.
I was wearing pumps rather than trainers and after a while I was starting to feel pressure on my ankles from jumping onto a hard concrete surface so next time I will definitely wear my trainers. When I woke up this morning I really felt like I had worked my calves, maybe a little too much, so I didn't feel up to running on the treadmill as I thought this would only make things worse. I decided to give the gym a miss today, it is Saturday afterall!
Instead, at home we have a cross trainer. Originally I wanted a treadmill so I could run whenever I wanted but they are quite big and we didn't really have the room so we opted for a cross trainer instead and I have to say I am really impressed. It is smaller than the one that I usually use at the gym but it is definitely harder work. The resistance is from 1 to 10 but 10 is rock solid and you can't even move it, as its a dial we usually have it between one and two.
With it being at home, it is really easy to just put your trainers on a go on for 10 minutes and 10 minutes usually burns 100 calories so its not bad for the days when I don't go to the gym. Today I went on for 20 minutes, burning 203 calories and doing just over 9k in distance. If only it was this easy on a treadmill!
After going on the cross trainer, I did some sit-ups, some crunches and some arm exercises with very small weights. After I did some toning exercises with weights on my ankles yesterday I thought I'd leave my legs to recover today!

Calories: Still 444 but tea time soon!

Ok, take two!

So my very first post was in January and it is now March, I just couldn't get the hang of this blogging business so im going to try again!

For the past few weeks I have been trying to take seriously exercising and healthy eating, because that is the key to a great body right?  Well... I have been keeping a journal of what I've been eating and drinking and the best I can writing with that how many calories I have consumed and burnt at the gym.

My relationship with the gym is a love hate one! When I joined the gym May 2010, I loved it, but more as a social workout than an intense calorie burning work out. I used to go with a few friends a few days a week but it wasn't particularly hard work. But I had something to aim for, going away on holiday with a friend, so I wanted to look good. And I feel like I did! But after I'd been away twice last year, abroad once and in the UK another, I had no motivation or intensive to go. As the gym sessions dwindled and the weather got colder I practically stopped going to the gym all together! I'd go maybe once or twice every few weeks and hate every minute of it so I quit!

But I was unhappy with myself and my body, especially in the winter so when January came I rejoined, and until March I was still in the hate part of my relationship. Now, I can't wait to go to the gym! Especially this week, I've been getting up early to go, even if its just for 45 minutes and trying my very best to eat healthily. Because I have given up sliced bread and biscuits for lent I think that this is helping me when it comes to finding healthy meals or snacks!

I have an aim of losing about a stone, and toning up but also running a 5k race in June and despite the fact that no one really wants to do it with me, today I am going to sign up and commit myself to doing it! Wish me luck! x

So far today:
Calories: 444
