Happy Mother's Day!

I would like to start this post by saying Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there! I really don't know what I would do without my mom, she does so much for me and my brother who is 14. He has diabetes and coeliac so it can be tough at times but she is really incredible!

I have been reading some blogs online and a lot of people weigh themselves a few times a week, some even everyday! Sometimes I feel like I need to weigh myself to keep track of progress, especially after I've had a really good day or a really bad day! I want to see if I've lost any weight or gained any weight but I resist I don't really think there is much point, if I've gained weight after an unhealthy day, I will just be unhappy and demotivated. So instead, if I've had a bad day on Monday, I try and be as good as I can on Tuesday and the rest of the week to almost counter act the unhealthy food I've eaten. Because I have only been 'dieting' a couple of weeks I'm not sure if this is working or not. Weight loss isn't my ultimate goal, but I do want to lose weight!
I think that exercise is really helping me at the moment, and if I could I would go to the gym everyday! I am really enjoying going at the moment, except there is one thing I can't help but think by the time I get to the car... "I WISHED I'D HAVE BURNT MORE CALORIES"
I really do work my hardest in the gym, and I workout until I either run out of time or I can't do anymore but by the time I'm home and I've showered I feel like I could do it all over again! Or if I go to the gym in the morning, by 3 o clock I want to go again! It's not being all I'm thinking is losing fat, but I really enjoy it and I hate feeling like I could do more!
I've also realised lately I am feeling much fuller more lately but even after eating a small filling meal I feel bad. Almost like because I'm eating healthily I should be hungry, I know this isn't the mindset I have but once I've eaten a meal I feel like I should be burning off the calories I have eaten, even if I have not eaten many.

Anyway, I am going to start posting what I've eaten everyday on here, I may not be able to post everyday but I will make sure I write up my journal on here for what I've eaten everyday! I will then hopefully be posting more and more good days!

As I blogged about yesterday I have made a plan of what I want to do. I'm going to post this up now, I' not sure if this will make any sense to anyone but I've got my start weight, my current weight and my goals for May 1st.

New month ...

Ok so its the beginning of April, and just under 12 weeks until I go on holiday for the first time this year!
I have decided to set myself some specific targets for the 1st of May, I set a month time period so I am not being unrealistic and thinking I'm going to lose half a stone in 2 weeks or something! Although I am sure with a stupid crash diet or not eating anything this would be possible, but no only is it unhealthy, as soon as you started to eat the weight would pile on leaving you feeling worse than before!!
I have planned to lose 5 pounds by 1st May, taking me down to 9st 5. Hopefully, if I continue to eat healthily, watch my calories and exercise regularly, 4 or 5 times a week then this will be easily achievable for me! I am really determined to do this and I know I will feel a lot better in myself and look a lot better too!

Even though I am determined, I am only human and still have off days with the healthy eating and lack motivation for exercise! Yesterday I burnt nearly 400 calories at the gym and then I went to an 80's disco! I laughed and danced the night away and in sky high heels, you can really feel this on your legs! The only problem is the amount of calories in alcoholic drinks! I started off well, drinking vodka diet coke, but this was getting too expensive so I went on to Smirnoff ice, and I even had a few glasses of cheeky V! So the calorie count was sky high for yesterday! I know I shouldn't worry because I'm 18! I should be out and having fun bu t I cant help that that it might have had a devastating effect to any weight loss this week! I was just going to work extra hard today with exercise and burn off as many calories as I could .... this also hasn't happened!
I woke up at 9 feeling really rough and thought I'd give the gym a miss this morning and maybe go in the afternoon, I slept in until nearly 12! And still didn't feel great when I got up!
Instead of going to the gym I went on the cross trainer, I was planning to do 5k and about 200-250 calories so I finally got motivated and got on the cross trainer. I got to 5.5k and 117 calories and thought I'd have a 1 minute break to get a drink and guess what? I never went back on! I think I am going to go back on once I'v eaten my tea, if not then I will make up for it next week!

I need to find a way of burning more calories in each gym session, I know this usually involves more time and some days I have a couple of hours that I can spend in the gym, some days I have 45 mins to 1 hour. Next week I am going to try and work out which machines I can use at the gym which will burn the most calories in an hour. I am also going to try and do stomach and arm toning exercises each day! Within my gym membership I have access to all of the classes but I have never used any! Next week I am also going to have gone to at least one class, hopefully the abs-box class or the spin and trim class! I think I will really enjoy them I am just a bit nervous about them being really hard! No pain no gain I suppose!

Disappointed!

Despite me doing loads (or what I consider to be loads) of exercise on Monday, I am disappointed with myself today. On a Tuesday I don't get time to do anything so Tuesday is a rest day and Wednesday I go to the gym then go to work. This morning however, my alarm didn't go off quite as early as I wanted it to and I ended up in a rush at the gym. Considering I didn't do any exercise on Tuesday I wanted today to be a really intense calorie burning work out but I disappointed myself!

I have free training at my gym rather than a set programme because I can never remember the technical names for the different machines, but I might start doing my training programme. I was olnly in the gym an hour but quite a few of the machines were out of order so this slowed me down too!
To make matters worse, I wasn't able to 'check out' of the gym and see how many calories I did manage to burn! I think that I have had an off day today because having to go to work messes up my meals too!
I havnt consumed too many calories today, but I dont feel like ive eaten the right things!

Tomorrow I am going to have a really good session in the gym and then go for a swim in the morning and I may even go out for a run on the evening, depending on the weather and how much ive eaten for tea.
I have downloaded a new track from another running blog that lasts 15 minutes and it supposed to motivate you in your work out! I'm going to try it out tomorrow and see if I can stay on most of the cardio machines for 15 minutes or longer. I am going with a friend who is new to the gym and is very motivated. Hopefully some company in the gym will push me to stay and workout for longer, and also to try out some new machines.
I am really determined to really push myself tomorrow, I don't feel like ive lost any weight this week, losing weight isnt really my ultimate goal, feeling better is, but I think for my body shape to change I will need to lose half a stone and I would like to lose a stone!

My motivation is definitely up for tomorrow, I think today may have knocked me down slightly! I will keep you posted tomorrow on how it goes. And if that track is any good ill link it to youu! Hope everyone is motivated todayy! Nightt!

Swim & Gym

Well today has involved a lot of exercise! I'm usually at uni all day today so I just go for a quick gym session on the night and a tried Zumba one Monday! I really enjoyed Zumba but at £4 I didn't feel like i'd have a proper, full on work out, it was more like a bit of fun! I really would recommend it for a change of workout!
Today I have been to the gym for an hour and a half and then went for a swim. I usually go swimming in a 25m pool but this one was alot longer, maybe 33m and it was very busy so I found it harder than usual!

I used a different gym than usual too as my membership covers 3 local gyms, the machines were the same as my other gym but the layout was different and it wasn't air conditioned so it was alot warmer in there too! I really enjoyed working out at a different gym for a change of scenery and a change of faces but I was very happy to jump in the cool pool!

Today the healthy eating has gone ok, not great but ok. I want to do my best to eat healthily but I am going to watch my calories and try not restrict myself from something as I know this will make it harder for me a week down the line and I will give in! Today I really wanted a tasty desert after my dinner and made the mistake of going to asda, I ended up with Tiramisu, luckily it was an individual one and was 297 calories.

I am going to do "hidden" exercise such as walking to places where I would usually drive, I suppose every little bit of exercise counts! Today I walked to the post office and back, this is 0.5 miles away so in total it was 1 mile and because I had fresh air and different views I didnt feel like I'd done any exercise! Unfortunately I didn't do much running today but it is always nice to have a change of exercise so you don't get bored. I may go for a run tomorrow if not it will have to wait until Wednesday!

Too much time..

Ok, so its Saturday and I'm putting off uni work so I had quite alot of time on my hands this afternoon so second blog of the day!
Yesterday I decided to buy a skipping rope for a quick, high cardio, fun workout at home and let me tell you it is quick because after about a minute I was ready to pass out! I read on the internet that the aim is to skip for 30 minutes none stop!! I think I can last about 30 seconds before I start thinking "how much longer?!?"
I don't really have any room in the house to do it so first I did it outside on the decking area but because the neighbours were sitting out in the garden I felt that it was a little too noisy so I went into the garage.
I was wearing pumps rather than trainers and after a while I was starting to feel pressure on my ankles from jumping onto a hard concrete surface so next time I will definitely wear my trainers. When I woke up this morning I really felt like I had worked my calves, maybe a little too much, so I didn't feel up to running on the treadmill as I thought this would only make things worse. I decided to give the gym a miss today, it is Saturday afterall!
Instead, at home we have a cross trainer. Originally I wanted a treadmill so I could run whenever I wanted but they are quite big and we didn't really have the room so we opted for a cross trainer instead and I have to say I am really impressed. It is smaller than the one that I usually use at the gym but it is definitely harder work. The resistance is from 1 to 10 but 10 is rock solid and you can't even move it, as its a dial we usually have it between one and two.
With it being at home, it is really easy to just put your trainers on a go on for 10 minutes and 10 minutes usually burns 100 calories so its not bad for the days when I don't go to the gym. Today I went on for 20 minutes, burning 203 calories and doing just over 9k in distance. If only it was this easy on a treadmill!
After going on the cross trainer, I did some sit-ups, some crunches and some arm exercises with very small weights. After I did some toning exercises with weights on my ankles yesterday I thought I'd leave my legs to recover today!

Calories: Still 444 but tea time soon!

Sit ups and crunches: approx 100-150

Ok, take two!

So my very first post was in January and it is now March, I just couldn't get the hang of this blogging business so im going to try again!

For the past few weeks I have been trying to take seriously exercising and healthy eating, because that is the key to a great body right?  Well... I have been keeping a journal of what I've been eating and drinking and the best I can writing with that how many calories I have consumed and burnt at the gym.

My relationship with the gym is a love hate one! When I joined the gym May 2010, I loved it, but more as a social workout than an intense calorie burning work out. I used to go with a few friends a few days a week but it wasn't particularly hard work. But I had something to aim for, going away on holiday with a friend, so I wanted to look good. And I feel like I did! But after I'd been away twice last year, abroad once and in the UK another, I had no motivation or intensive to go. As the gym sessions dwindled and the weather got colder I practically stopped going to the gym all together! I'd go maybe once or twice every few weeks and hate every minute of it so I quit!

But I was unhappy with myself and my body, especially in the winter so when January came I rejoined, and until March I was still in the hate part of my relationship. Now, I can't wait to go to the gym! Especially this week, I've been getting up early to go, even if its just for 45 minutes and trying my very best to eat healthily. Because I have given up sliced bread and biscuits for lent I think that this is helping me when it comes to finding healthy meals or snacks!

I have an aim of losing about a stone, and toning up but also running a 5k race in June and despite the fact that no one really wants to do it with me, today I am going to sign up and commit myself to doing it! Wish me luck! x

So far today:
Calories: 444
